Facebook today announced that they are bringing Messenger Chat to websites via the new Customer Chat Plugin, giving businesses an accessible and familiar tool to handle website live chat.
For those who have dabbled with Messenger Bots, this also presents an opportunity to increase bot exposure by porting the same functionality to the web environment. Using some of the more advanced bot features, businesses will be able to carry on conversations via automated lead nurturing funnels and facilitate ongoing 1 on 1 engagement with customers in the messenger environment.
It is worth considering that whilst the Customer Chat Plugin option does bring with it ‘cross-platform’ history and context around previous messenger engagements with a customer, this option does offer less CRM integration than other tools on the market.
